Food for Fines

Monday, April 30, 2018
Food for Fines @ the Westland Public Library, March 19 to April 30
William P. Faust Public Library of Westland
Food for Fines is back at the Westland Public Library! The Westland Public Library is once again partnering with Gleaners Community Food Bank to help alleviate hunger in Southeastern Michigan.
How can you help? Bring nonperishable goods dated June 2018 or after to the Circulation Desk at the Westland Public Library and receive $2 per item off of your fines (fees for lost or damaged items are not eligible).
What should I bring? All nonperishable canned and boxed food items dated June 2018 or after are accepted. Nutritious nonperishable items like canned meats (including tuna, stews, and soups) and canned fruits and vegetables are in greatest demand. Single-size cereal boxes are also needed for children's lunches and weekend bags.
If you don't have fines but would like to donate, please visit any of the service desks in the library or stop by Biggby Coffee or the Westland Friendship Center and deposit your items in one of their donation-only boxes. All items dated June 2018 or after are accepted.
High-need items include:  Canned fruits and veggies, tuna fish, peanut butter, healthy cereals, heart healthy soups and stews, canned pasta, and beans. No glass items, please.
If you have any questions, please contact the Public Library of Westland at (734) 326-6123 or stop by any of our service desks.
